HOUSE OF LITERATURE

The House of Literarature offers publishers with their headquarters in Upper Austria (as also to leading Austrian publishers who print the works of the local authors) a platform to present their new works. However authors from the other Austrian provinces and also from German-speaking countries and other European states are represented where related themes are dealt with in various series of literary discussions and authors’ readings, for example in the series entitled “Essayistik.”

The results of the Institute’s literary and language research are imparted in appropriate form, such as Book and CD presentations, lectures and discussions, exhibitions and symposia.

“nextext – Youth at the Stifter House” is a novel programme aiming especially to appeal to a new section of the public, namely young people. Special events are also organized for children as part of the Provincial government’s initiative to promote reading.

The Upper Austrian “Literaturnetz” allows the biographies and work of about 300 authors to be accessed online. (www.literaturnetz.at)
